Mark Twain wrote, “By and by somebody shouted, “Who’s ready for the cave? Everybody was. Bundles of candles were procured and straight away there was a general scamper up the hill.” An experienced guide will escort you on a one-hour tour featuring points of interest mentioned in Mark Twain’s writings. Walkways are level and smooth
and there are no steps. Persons of any age can easily make the tour. Bring a light wrap as the cave is 52 degrees year around. Wear sensible walking shoes and be sure to bring your camera.

Tours begin at Mark Twain Cave Visitors Center
Visit the Northern Hemisphere’s most complex cave, Cameron Cave, Missouri’s newest show cave. You’ll see the cave nearly as it was when first discovered. This lantern guided tour takes you through this complex maze cave. The tour last 1 ½ hours and several visitors on the tour will carry lanterns. Enjoy this unique cave experience. Operating schedule: Memorial Day to Labor Day, tours daily at 10:00 a.m., Noon, 1:30 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. Other times and balance of the year by advance reservation. Admission is required for both caves. A two-cave discount is available.

Tom & Huck Statue

See the bronze statue of Twain’s most memorable and mischievous characters as they are depicted walking down the banks of the mighty Mississippi River, awaiting their next adventure. Sculpted in 1925 by Canton, Mo native Frederick Hibbard, it is one of seven statues in the world of literary characters.
