A celebration of the ethnically diverse town erected in 1903, as immigrants came to work at the Atlas Cement plant. Cement from the Ilasco plant was used in building the Panama Canal and other major projects in the United States.
Preserving the rich heritage and legacies of Ilasco’s residents
The village of Ilasco has a unique history and ethnic heritage, built on the backs of blue-collar immigrants. These immigrants arrived with the dream of improving the lives of their families, and often had to overcome numerous obstacles like harsh working conditions and language barriers. This was a cement company town, where residents were proud to be Americans and understood the importance of working hard to provide the American Dream for their families. The descendants of these courageous people are proud to recognize and honor the early citizens of Ilasco.
