• Like a homecoming, Mark Twain Himself returns author and humorist Samuel L. Clemens to his Missouri birthplace and Hannibal home on the banks of the Mississippi River. Audiences experience a special encounter with the man who made America laugh and inspired the world. It’s a great show full of hilarious comedy and compelling drama. $22 at the door, advance tickets $20.

6:30-8pm: Fashion, Drinks, and Shopping, Oh My!

• Mark Twain Museum: 120 N. Main St — (573) 221-9010

• Join us for a glamorous evening to remember at our 2nd Annual Fashion, Drinks, and Shopping, Oh My! fashion show. Our models will be showcasing the latest fashions for 2019 from Maurices, JC Penny, Danni Nicole’s, YU! and the Museum Gallery Gift Shop. Your $20 ticket includes an array of scrumptious hor d’oeuvres and deserts, as well as an assortment of wine and beer provided by Mark Twain Distributing. There will be opportunities to shop both before and after the event at our vendor’s booth.

7:30pm: Shame! The Devil: An Audience with Fanny Kemble

 On a late evening in the 1830’s, Fanny Kemble bursts into her Manhattan parlor.  Her former husband has published a scurrilous attack on her character.  In this one-woman biopic, Kemble tells her side of the story using her spectacular skills as a Shakespearean actor and popular essayist.  The toast of London society and a leading ingénue in Britain and America, she tells the story of her marriage to a Philadelphia lawyer, the birth of her children and her visit to his Georgia plantation where his family keeps one of the largest populations of slaves in the country.  This life-changing event transformed her from a stylish romantic to a galvanizing reformer and abolitionist.  Shame! The Devil is a play about emancipation – from her controlling and abusive husband and through her leading role in the fight to end slavery in America.

Gates open at 6pm with the opportunity to turn in Scavenger Hunt submissions. Tickets cost $25. VIP reserved seating available under our event tent. Cash bar provided by Hannibal Jaycees.
