1. Mark Twain Memorial Lighthouse
Start your day by walking up the steps to Mark Twain’s Memorial Lighthouse that was dedicated by President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1936. This overlook gives you a picture-perfect view of the Mississippi River and Hannibal’s Historic Downtown. You may work up an appetite climbing those stairs, but don’t freight! By completing the Lighthouse Scavenger Hunt , you will win a prize at Paddlewheel Popcorn located on N. Main St.
2. Mark Twain Dinette
After climbing those stairs, stop in the Mark Twain Dinette for a yummy lunch of homemade root beer floats and maid rites! This family-run restaurant has been around since 1942 and does not disappoint! If a maid rite isn’t the food for you, check out some of their other options here!
3. Mark Twain Museum
Next stop, Mark Twain Museum and Boyhood home! This ticket gives you admission into 6 different properties which include Mark Twain’s boyhood home, Becky Thatcher’s home, and Huckleberry Finn’s home. Along with the homes you can tour the Mark Twain Museum which include 15 original Norman Rockwell paintings! You will not want to miss out on all of the history and excitement!
4. Hannibal Trolley Co.
After you learn all about Twain, hop on the Trolley to enjoy a 1 hour tour of Hannibal. This trolley will not only tell you about historic downtown, but it travels out to the Mark Twain Cave, Rockcliffe Mansion and Riverview Park to tell you all about the history of Hannibal!
5. Mark Twain Cave and Campground
Don’t forget to stop by the Mark Twain Cave, to tour the cave that Mark Twain himself played in as a kid! This cave is open until 8 p.m. with the last tour departing at 7 p.m. This gives you just enough time to get lost, like Tom and Becky!
6. Becky Thatcher’s Old Fashion Ice Cream Parlor
After a long day of exploring Hannibal’s attractions stop in to get some ice cream and souvenirs from Becky Thatcher’s Old Fashion Ice Cream Parlor. A perfect way to reminisce on all of your favorite things from the day.
