We understand; you want and try to do it all! Here’s an idea that will cover a ton of fun.
7:00 PM: Head to the Hannibal History Museum and meet up for a ‘Haunted Hannibal’ tour; learn the stories of unsolved murders, meet the ghosts of local B&Bs and businesses, and use ghost-busting tools on this fun and informative tour. It’s Hannibal as you’ve never seen it before!
8:30 PM: Check-in to hotel or B & B
6-8:00 AM: Breakfast at hotel/ B & B
8:30 AM: Depart for downtown Hannibal
9:00 AM: Take a Hannibal City tour on the Hannibal Trolley and enjoy a great 1-hour narrated tour of Hannibal’s many sights, including scenic outlooks, famous landmarks and beautiful historic homes.
10:15 AM: Begin tour of Mark Twain Boyhood Home & Museum Properties. This self-guided tour allows you to explore the roots of Mark Twain’s genius. The tour includes 7 buildings, most notably the world famous Mark Twain Boyhood Home.
11:45 AM: Lunch at Ole Planters, a family-owned downtown staple for over 30 years, famous for their homemade pie!
1:00 PM: Tour the Museum Gallery Building, the last building on the Boyhood Home tour, and browse a few shops along the way.
5:00 PM: Be transported back to the days of Mark Twain’s live stage shows with a Mark Twain Himself theater performance. Actor Richard Garey brings Twain to life in this entertaining show with hilarious comedy and heartwarming drama. A Victorian tea is also served.
6:15 PM: Board the Mark Twain Riverboat and enjoy a relaxing dinner cruise aboard the Mighty Mississippi. Return to the days of riverboats as you enjoy your dinner and live musical entertainment!
8:30 PM: Return to hotel
8:00 AM: Breakfast at hotel or a local restaurant
9:00 AM: Tour Rockcliffe Mansion, one of America’s Gilded Age Mansions! This turn of the century Mansion, built high above the City has spectacular views of the Mississippi and contains many original furnishings. Enjoy a docent guided tour and marvel at the wonders of this grand mansion.
10:30 AM: Mark Twain Cave Tour – Enjoy a tour of the cave that Twain made famous in his book, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer! There are also several souvenir shops, gemstone sluicing and a fossil dig!
Noon: Lunch downtown at the Brick Oven, known for its Brick Oven fired pizza and fantastic homemade pasta.
1:00 PM: Head down to Sawyer’s Creek Fun Park and enjoy 18 holes of mini-golf, bumper boats, arcade games and much more! For the adults, enjoy some wine tasting.
3:00 pm: Stop at Karlock’s Kars and Pop Culture and see tons of memorabilia, great classic cars, movie prop and more! This is a unique Hannibal attraction!
4:00 PM: Head back to the hotel for a bit of R & R or swimming before evening. Still have plenty of energy? Stop into the Hannibal History Museum and learn about the many other famous Hannibal citizens.
5:30 PM: Enjoy a fine dinner at LaBinnah Bistro, known for their exquisite fusion cuisine.
It’s certainly not everything there is to see and do in Hannibal, but it’s enough to give you a taste! You will be sure to return!
